Urban Seedling Internship 2017
Positions: Interns: (1) Plant Production/Greenhouse, (2) Vegetable Garden Installation/Maintenance, (3) Horticulture and Landscaping
Urban Seedling is a family-owned and operated business. We believe that eating local starts in our own back yards (and balconies). We promote healthy eating and sustainable communities through education and the building of organic vegetable gardens as well as edible landscaping in homes, schools, daycares and workplaces. We have the first (on island!) greenhouse and garden centre completely dedicated to edibles.
Urban Seedling is proud to offer, for our 2017 season, an in depth internship in urban agriculture, horticulture and landscaping to recent graduates in the horticulture/landscaping floristry fields. Interns will haver an opportunity to get their hands dirty while applying what they have learned in a dynamic environment. Our internships allow students to gain valuable work experience and a chance to get their foot in the door in the blooming industry of urban agriculture. The Internships are open to students in Horticulture, Landscaping and Agriculture as well as students in Environmental studies* and Geography*.
Our Internships are available in the following departments: Plant Production/Greenhouse, Vegetable Garden Installation/Maintenance, Horticulture and Landscaping.
Our our internships are divided into two week blocks that begin mid-March and continue until the end of June as well as the month of August. Interns must be ready to commit to a complete 2 week block (Monday-Friday), as required by their respective programmes. Interns are welcome to sign up for more than one block period. Interns will work under their respective supervisor(s).
*Please note that Internships in Landscaping, Horticulture and Garden Installation are only open to Students in The Horticulture, Landscaping, Florists departments
The application deadline for the period of March 15th to April 28th is March 3rd.
