(A) Why War?

People- & Planet-Friendly Events & Resources

As the world teeters on the brink of yet another war, there are many questions that we should be asking – of ourselves, our communities and our governments. Why war? What is really behind this war? Are government and media giving us an honest picture of what's going on?

The U.S. government is trying to portray this as a battle between a good democracy and an evil dictatorship. To what degree is this true and relevent? In the years to come, what will this war mean for the Iraqis, for the planet, for you and me?

For those who are concerned about this war, there is something you can do, something for every interest and ability. From attending public events and screenings ... to marching in the streets. From reducing your consumption of oil ... to supporting local, sustainable business. From writing a letter or making a phone call ... to hosting a screening, discussion or other event in your home or community. Please read on for many ways to learn, participate, and get involved.

(B) The Frank Dorrel Video

People- & Planet-Friendly Events & Resources

You may have heard about the video Canada Customs recently detained at the border, "What I've Learned About US Foreign Policy". This remarkable film is a shocking expose of USA and CIA "interventions" since World War II. For those who seek to look at the big picture and underlying causes – this is a must-see.

If everyone in Canada were to see this video, it would cause a major raising of consciousness. It would greatly increase the search for peaceful, sustainable solutions.

The video is a compilation of segments from existing documentaries, painting a picture of American international involvement from the 50's to date. Includes assasinations of Civil Rights leaders, the Iran Contra Affair, School of the Americas, the Panama Deception, and much more.

With Ramsey Clark (former US Attorney General), Bill Moyers (PBS investigative journalist), Amy Goodman (journalist & host of Democracy Now), Martin Luther King Jr. and others. Edited and distributed by Frank Dorrel ( www.addictedtowar.com/dorrel.html )

ADDICTED To WAR, Why The U.S. Can't Kick Militarism

By Joel Andreas www.addictedtowar.com

The new 2003 edition of Addicted To War is now available. It includes 11 new endorsements including Veterans For Peace and lists 17 national anti-war organizations at the end of the book.

Now endorsing Addicted To War are Ramsey Clark, Dr. Helen Caldicott, Ron Kovic, Col. James Burkholder, Kris Kristofferson, Father Roy Bourgeois, Russell Means, Rev. James Lawson, Kevin Danaher and Michael Franti. They join with the previous endorsers, Howard Zinn, Michael Parenti, Ed Asner, Susan Sarandon, Blase Bonpane, Martin Sheen and S. Brian Willson in encouraging everyone in this country to read the book.

With over 50,000 copies distributed and 70,000 in print, Addicted To War is being read by more and more people, including many high school and college students, as their teachers are using it as a history textbook. Over 50,000 copies of ATW have been printed in Japan. It is now also in Korean. The Spanish version is coming soon and will be followed by editions in German, French, Danish and other languages.

Addicted To War is helping to educate more and more people to understand the true nature of U.S. foreign policy. It is so very important for the people of the United States, to wake up and stop the madness, the insanity, the devastation, that has been unleashed by our government. We must stop the war against Iraq and future wars against all people of the Earth.

Thanks to Joel Andreas for writing and illustrating the amazing Addicted To War. Thanks to AK Press for all their help. Thanks to Yumi Kikuchi for all of her support. Thanks to all of the people who have endorsed ATW and to all of the people and anti-war organizations working to put an end to war.

And thanks to all of you who have bought Addicted To War and are busy distributing it to others. You can buy 20 or more copies for $3 each. You can read Ramsey Clark's endorsement and all of the others at: www.addictedtowar.com
