Creating a Rain Garden: A Step by Step Guide    Tue Oct 23 to Wed Oct 24, 2018, Burlington, ON

Fall Healthy Neighbourshed Workshops
Creating a Rain Garden: A Step by Step Guide

At this workshop, you will learn how to create a beautiful rain garden to help manage water on your property. Designed to absorb excess rainwater from hard surfaces such as roofs and driveways, rain gardens reduce the impact of stormflows on creeks and streams. Join local rain garden expert Michael Albanese, as he takes you through the steps and benefits of creating a home rain garden. The workshop will cover calculating roof drainage area, downspouts, soil infiltration, excavation, soil amendments, planting with local native species and maintenance. Participants will receive a sample design for a rain garden that will enhance both the homeowner’s property and the local environment.
